     Kacico Dance, Kansas City Contemporary Dance, is the only full time professional          contemporary dance company in Kansas City.  It's mission includes creating and

     performing excellence in contemporary dance and raising the level of contemporary

     dance in Kansas City and the mid-west region to national levels and national

     notice. Michelle Diane Brown guides the company as Artistic Director.

     Ms. Brown’s choreography expresses a strong, fluid, exquisite physicality and a

     compositional cleverness.  A recent review by Lisa Sagolla in the Kansas City Star

     (1/20/07) reads, "With her tickling trio, Moving Into Stillness [2007], like an actor

     directed to play 'boredom,' Michelle Diane Brown charged herself with a difficult

     task:  to make a dance about stillness.  But she succeeds admirably, finding

     vitality and visual interest within the making of the static body configurations."

     Highlighting original work from other artists is a mainstay for Kacico Dance. Recent

     collaborators include Fontana, a string trio, choreographers Peter Kalivas and

     Rebecca Bryant, composer Don Nichols and singer/songwriter Dave Patmore.

     Extensions of Kacico Dance, the professional company, include:

     The Kacico School of Contemporary Dance - offering classes in

       contemporary dance to yourth, adults and professionals year round including our

       Apprentice Company.  See school of dance.

      Kacico Studios West - (opening Aug. 1) the home of Kacico Dance and The

       School but also a space for the community.  Offering performances, performance

       space and studio space for rent, monthly community dance events such as the 3C

       Hour(more info to come), Friday dance night featuring a different style of dance

       each night, a visual artist gallery with artwork for sale, and more.

      Kacico Studios East - the current home of Kacico Dance and The School 

       which will continue to offer classes as a part of The School for our friends on the

       east side of town.
